THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF ARCHITECTS - UIA
The UIA is an international organization of architects founded in 1948 with 124 country members throughout the world. It is the only non-governmental organization in the field of architecture officially recognized, among others, by United Nations (UN-HABITAT, UNEP, UNECE and UNIDO) and by UNESCO, with which there have been signed on-going collaboration agreements.THE UIA AND THE CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)
The quality of the continuing professional development in the world is a priority for the UIA, therefore the institution has worked in the development of minimum standards that should be met by the organized CPD Systems, the individual courses and all the teaching material, no matter their type that want to become registered as quality CPD.THE UIA CPD QUALITY LABEL
The Quality Label is a UIA trademark that shows the overall quality of a CPD System or a single course or learning unit of any kind, because they fulfil the Quality Guidelines approved internationally.
THE MUTUAL CPD ACCORDS
It has been agreed that those UIA Member Sections whose CPD Systems have the Quality Label shall recognize the training material registered in such label.THE INTERNATIONAL CREDIT
Each System or Provider will assign a credit rating to each offer of CPD material. On registration of a CPD System or of CPD material, an equivalency of the credit rating to an international standard will be determined. This standard will be based on a credit being equivalent to one hour of learning.The existence of international credit favours the possibility of following courses and any kind of professional training registered in the UIA CPD Programme, and of calculating its equivalent value in any other registered CPD System.
COMPLAINT PROCEDURE
The courses and all the CPD material registered are not subject to a revision done by the UIA to guarantee their quality. It is the students the ones that shall use the Complaint Procedure if they consider that the course or the material does not meet any of the following:- Guidelines for the CPD System of CPD material
- Information given by the System owner or the provider on the courses and/or material
SYNTHESIS
All the CPD Systems and material registered in the UIA CPD Programme:- Must show the quality label in a visible place.
- Must be listed in the quality registry which can be accessed through this web site.
- The CPD Quality Label logo will link to this UIA website.
- All registered Systems and CPD material must fulfil the Guidelines approved by the UIA.
- The CPD Providers should give correct and updated information about their courses and CPD material.
- Should the students find any non-fulfilment of the Guidelines or any malicious error in the information provided on the courses and the educational material, they will have the possibility of reporting it to the UIA by using the Claiming Procedure.
